Tata Group to Launch Semiconductor Plant in Dholera in 2024
At the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat. The landmark project, now in the final stages of negotiations, is set to commence operations later this year, marking a major leap in India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
Chandrasekaran also revealed plans to begin construction of a 20-gigawatt lithium-ion battery factory in Sanand within the next two months. This facility will serve as a cornerstone for Tata’s electric vehicle technology ecosystem, catering to the surging demand for EVs in India and abroad.
Additionally, the Tata Group is advancing its C295 defence aircraft production in Vadodara, with an expansion planned in Dholera. He further highlighted the upcoming launch of the first phase of the Indian Institute of Skills in Gujarat by March 2024, a collaborative initiative with the central and state governments aimed at creating a highly skilled workforce.
These strategic investments reinforce Gujarat’s position as a powerhouse of advanced manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable growth.
