Gujarat Secures ₹1,000 Crore Jabil Investment; Dholera SIR to Host New Electronics Manufacturing Hub
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Gujarat has taken another decisive step toward becoming a global technology powerhouse. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Gujarat Science and Technology Department and global manufacturing leader Jabil for setting up a state-of-the-art Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) unit in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR).
With an investment of ₹1,000 crore, the facility will focus on sectors such as networking, capital goods, automotive, and allied industries. Operations are expected to begin by 2027, creating around 5,000 high-skill jobs and fostering advanced research, innovation, and skill development in the state.
The MoU was signed in the presence of CM Shri Bhupendra Patel, with Shri B.N. Shukla (Operations Director, Jabil) and Shri Manish Gurvan (Mission Director, GSEM) formalizing the agreement. The exchange took place between Smt. Mona Khandhar (Principal Secretary, Science and Technology Department) and Mr. Frederic McCoy (Executive Vice President, Jabil).
CM Patel stated, “This partnership will significantly strengthen Gujarat’s technology ecosystem, enabling the manufacture of world-class products and aligning with the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ vision. Dholera SIR, with its plug-and-play industrial infrastructure and efficient logistics, is perfectly positioned to host such high-tech manufacturing.”
Jabil, a trusted partner to top global brands for over five decades, operates more than 100 facilities worldwide. The company’s entry into Dholera adds to Gujarat’s rapidly expanding high-tech landscape, which already includes major players like Micron, Tata Electronics, CG Power, and Cranes. Notably, Tata Electronics is developing India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication plant at Dholera, further cementing the region’s role as a hub for cutting-edge electronics.
Meanwhile, infrastructure to support these investments is advancing rapidly. The ₹4,373-crore Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, now 80% complete, is expected to open in early 2025, cutting travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 40–45 minutes. Together with the Dholera International Airport and industrial-ready facilities, the expressway will provide a world-class connectivity backbone for Gujarat’s new-age manufacturing sector.
With this latest investment, Dholera SIR is set to emerge as one of Asia’s most competitive hubs for electronics manufacturing, driving India’s ambitions in semiconductors, AI, IoT, and 5G technologies.
