Torrent Power & Adani Green Win 300 MW Solar Auction in Gujarat
Torrent Power Generation and Adani Green Energy have secured victories in Torrent Power Limited’s 300 MW solar auction in Gujarat. Both companies won 150 MW each at a tariff of ₹2.22 (~$0.03)/kWh.
The auction witnessed strong participation, with bids from ReNew Power, Juniper Green Energy, and Vector Green, making it oversubscribed. Torrent Power also included a greenshoe option—allowing an additional 300 MW allocation to successful bidders at the lowest discovered tariff.
The Gujarat-based utility, which supplies electricity to Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Dahej SEZ, and Dholera SIR, will sign a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the winning developers.
Torrent Power currently operates 610.5 MW of renewable energy projects, including 138 MW of solar. In another recent win, the company emerged as the lowest bidder in Andhra Pradesh Green Energy Corporation’s auction, quoting ₹2.47 (~$0.033)/kWh for a 300 MW project at Kambadur Ultra Mega Solar Park in Anantapuram district.
