Tata, PSMC Seal ₹91,000-Crore Deal for Dholera Chip Plant; Meet PM Modi to Discuss Semiconductor Push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the leadership of Tata Sons and Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) to review India’s growing semiconductor manufacturing plans.

The meeting follows Tata Electronics’ signing of a ₹91,000-crore agreement with PSMC for advanced technology support to its upcoming semiconductor wafer fabrication facility at the Dholera Special Investment Region in Gujarat.

“Had a great meeting with the leadership team of Tata Sons and PSMC. They shared updates on their semiconductor manufacturing projects. PSMC expressed enthusiasm to further expand its footprint in India,” PM Modi shared on social media.

The strategic partnership marks a major step in India’s ambition to become self-reliant in chip manufacturing and strengthen its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
