Tata Power Renewables Commissions 300 MW Solar Plant in Dholera

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has successfully commissioned a 300 MW solar power project in Dholera, Gujarat — home to India’s largest single-axis solar tracker system.

Spanning 1,320 acres across six plots of 220 acres each, the project features 8,73,012 monocrystalline PV modules and is designed to generate 774 million units (MUs) of clean electricity annually. This will help offset around 7,04,340 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.

The project was completed well within the stipulated timeline, overcoming challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Innovative techniques such as pre-cast ballasts for laying power cables 500 mm above ground (instead of traditional underground methods) were used to enhance efficiency and reduce construction time.

With this addition, Tata Power’s operational renewable energy portfolio has reached 3,400 MW, comprising 2,468 MW of solar and 932 MW of wind power. The company’s total renewable capacity now stands at 5,020 MW, including 1,620 MW of projects in various stages of development.
