Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stones for three landmark semiconductor manufacturing facilities worth over ₹1.25 lakh crore on Wednesday, March 13, as part of the ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ programme.

Two of these advanced technology facilities will be located in Gujarat, while the third will be in Assam. The PM will inaugurate:

  • Semiconductor Fabrication Plant at Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat
  • Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) Facility at Sanand, Gujarat

The event will witness participation from students of nearly 60,000 institutions nationwide, reflecting the government’s push to inspire young talent towards high-tech manufacturing.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi’s address will outline his vision to transform India into a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development. Sharing the announcement on social media, the PM also encouraged India’s youth to actively engage in the programme. These projects are expected to significantly boost India’s position in the global semiconductor supply chain while creating thousands of high-skilled jobs and attracting massive investments in the electronics sector.
