PM Modi to Launch ₹1.25 Lakh Crore Semiconductor Projects, Address Youth Nationwide

New Delhi, March 12 – In a major boost to his vision of making India a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for three mega semiconductor projects worth nearly ₹1.25 lakh crore on Wednesday, March 13, via video conferencing.

The event, part of the government’s drive to create large-scale employment opportunities, will see participation from thousands of students across the country, along with top leaders from the semiconductor industry. PM Modi is also expected to address the nation’s youth, highlighting the potential of high-tech manufacturing in driving India’s economic growth.

The projects include:

  • Semiconductor Fabrication Facility at Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat – Set up by Tata Electronics under the modified semiconductor fabrication scheme, this will be India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication plant with an investment of ₹91,000 crore.
  • Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) Facility, Morigaon, Assam – To be established by Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) under the ATMP scheme, with an investment of ₹27,000 crore.
  • OSAT Facility, Sanand, Gujarat – To be developed by CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited with an investment of ₹7,500 crore.

Together, these facilities will significantly strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem, create thousands of direct and indirect jobs in electronics, telecom, and allied sectors, and position the country as a competitive player in the global semiconductor supply chain.
