Dholera: Responding to a question on the development of Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) in Ahmedabad district, Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput highlighted that the creation of Dholera’s Greenfield Industrial Smart City is actively underway, with a total investment of ₹35,984.58 crore across various sectors.
Minister Rajput confirmed that the 110 km Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway is expected to be completed by June 2025, reducing travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 50 minutes.
He further noted that Dholera SIR, declared under the Gujarat Special Investment Region Act, 2009, covers 22 villages and spans 920 sq km. For the expressway project, six draft town plans have been divided into 27 preliminary town plans, with 11 currently under process. As per the plan, 50% of land is allocated for infrastructure development and social amenities, while the remaining 50% is returned to the original landholders as a final plot.
The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway is being executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Bharatmala project in EPC mode, with several sections expected to be completed by 2025. Regarding Dholera International Airport, the Airport Authority of India has issued tenders for site development, runway, taxiway, and other infrastructure works, while construction of the terminal building and ATC tower is already in progress.
