Dholera International Airport Work Progresses Rapidly — Set to Boost Gujarat’s Global Connectivity
Gujaratis have always been at the forefront of global travel—whether for business, trade, or education. With Ahmedabad’s existing airport facing expansion limitations, a state-of-the-art Greenfield International Airport is now taking shape at Dholera, located about 100 km from Ahmedabad, to meet the rising domestic and international passenger demand.
Strategically positioned near the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), this ₹1,305 crore project is a joint venture between the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Government of Gujarat, and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT). The first phase features a 3,200-meter runway and supporting infrastructure, with over 1,400 hectares of land allocated for development. In the second phase, a 4,000-meter runway will be added, along with a modern passenger terminal designed to seamlessly connect both runways.
Capable of accommodating Code 4E aircraft, the airport will offer world-class facilities and is expected to be operational by 2024-25. Officials emphasize that the project will significantly enhance Gujarat’s aviation capacity and global accessibility.
