Gujarat Poised to Lead Globally in Key Sectors, Says Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has projected Gujarat as the future hub for semiconductors, electric vehicles, battery manufacturing, and green hydrogen — industries he described as “decisive for the global economy.” Speaking at a campaign rally for BJP’s Ahmedabad East candidate, Shah highlighted the massive investments flowing into Sanand and Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), calling them catalysts for the state’s rapid industrial transformation.
Shah noted that Dholera SIR, situated about 110 km from Ahmedabad, is set to become a major employment destination, potentially creating 10 lakh jobs. He credited policies initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and continued by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for ensuring “equitable development” and attracting investments across Gujarat.
Between 2020 and 2023, Gujarat received $36.86 billion in FDI, with Ahmedabad district alone drawing $32.59 billion (88%) and Gandhinagar securing $2.29 billion (6%). Major semiconductor projects have already been announced for Sanand and Dholera, while EV and battery manufacturing units are concentrated in Sanand and Hansalpur.
To support this growth, the government is investing in major infrastructure projects, including a ₹33,000 crore Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, Dholera International Airport, and new railway links to both Sanand and Dholera SIR. Shah emphasized that these developments would firmly position Gujarat as a global industrial powerhouse.
