Global Investors and NRIs Show Strong Interest in Gujarat’s Dholera SIR Semiconductor Hub
Gujarat: The Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) is rapidly emerging as India’s premier semiconductor hub, attracting keen interest from global investors and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), particularly from the US, Singapore, and the UK. Recent months have seen a surge in investor visits, land inquiries, and proposals, reflecting confidence in Dholera’s potential as a high-tech manufacturing destination.
Four out of India’s five planned semiconductor plants are set to be built in Dholera, underscoring the region’s strategic importance. Tata Electronics is leading the charge with its Rs 91,000 crore semiconductor fabrication project, which will be a cornerstone of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
At the Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2025, several landmark agreements were signed to further strengthen Dholera’s semiconductor ambitions:
- NextGen inked an MoU with the Gujarat government to establish a Rs 10,000 crore compound semiconductor fab and optoelectronics facility.
- A tripartite agreement was finalized between Tata Electronics, PSMC (Taiwan), and Himax Technologies for a semiconductor chip manufacturing facility in Dholera.
To support the growing industrial base, the state government has allocated Rs 200 crore for residential infrastructure, ensuring that employees and stakeholders have access to modern living amenities. Coupled with major ongoing infrastructure projects, these developments are set to accelerate Dholera’s transformation into a globally competitive semiconductor hub.
According to Lalit Parihar, Founder and Managing Director of Aaiji Group, Dholera SIR’s strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and investor-friendly policies are driving international and NRI interest, positioning the region as a key player in India’s high-tech manufacturing future.
