Dholera Set to Emerge as Asia’s Largest Semiconductor Hub, Driving Gujarat’s Techade Vision
Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT and Skill Development, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, announced that Dholera is poised to become Asia’s largest electronics hub, propelling Gujarat to the forefront of India’s Techade. Speaking at Saurashtra University and Atmiya University, the Minister highlighted Gujarat’s proactive policies, including its dedicated Semicon policy, as a catalyst for this transformation.
Backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and initiatives like Digital India and Skill India, India aims to lead global electronics manufacturing, with youth at the helm. The Government is also offering grants of up to ₹100 crore for semiconductor design investments, while promoting deep integration in sectors like AI, machine learning, and blockchain.
“Our goal is to cut down imports, create value in the global supply chain, and become a trusted technology partner,” said Shri Chandrasekhar. He emphasised that Dholera will unlock immense opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups, fostering collaboration between industry, academia, and government.
Rejecting the “freebies culture,” the Minister reaffirmed the government’s focus on maximum governance, minimum government, and building a $1 trillion digital economy as part of a $5 trillion national economy.
During his two-day visit to Rajkot and Surendranagar, Shri Chandrasekhar engaged with students, startups, and industry leaders, encouraging innovation, skill development, and the commercialisation of home-grown technologies.
