CSIR Signs MoU with iCreate to Boost India’s Tech Innovation Ecosystem
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with iCreate (International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology), India’s largest institution for transforming tech-based innovations into viable businesses. The collaboration aims to harness India’s technological strength, accelerate scientific innovation, and enhance the marketability of high-tech start-ups.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, marking a strategic partnership between the state government’s flagship technology incubator and India’s premier R&D body.
Under this partnership, CSIR and iCreate will establish a collaborative support system for emerging entrepreneurs, offering access to CSIR’s advanced equipment, facilities, scientific expertise, and intellectual property support. iCreate will assist in setting up new incubators within selected CSIR laboratories and leverage its extensive industry network to identify real-world challenges that CSIR scientists can address, enabling faster commercialization of innovations.
Located on a state-of-the-art 40-acre campus at Dev Dholera, Ahmedabad, iCreate has already supported over 412 innovations and secured 30+ patents, operating on a high-touch, entrepreneur-first model that connects innovators with mentors, markets, and funding.
This partnership is expected to catalyse India’s deep-tech start-up ecosystem, creating stronger links between scientific research and market-ready products.
