CM Bhupendra Patel Highlights Dholera SIR Progress at NICDP Meeting
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday virtually attended the second meeting of the apex monitoring authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), chaired in Delhi. The session was held in the presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, alongside chief ministers and industry ministers from five other states.
During the meeting, CM Patel showcased the significant progress in the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) — a greenfield industrial smart city near Ahmedabad. He detailed key infrastructure projects including the Dholera International Airport, the expressway linking Ahmedabad–Dholera, and a new railway line connecting the region to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.
Patel also urged the inclusion of Mandal-Bechraji SIR in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and sought approvals for the Ahmedabad–Dholera Semi High-Speed Train Project. Highlighting rapid development in Dholera’s activation area, he noted that several facilities are nearing completion and industrial plot allotments have already begun. Additionally, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (affordable rental housing model), 600 housing units are set to be constructed within the activation area to support the incoming workforce.
