CM Bhupendra Patel Showcases Gujarat’s Growth Story at Mumbai Roadshow for Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attended the Mumbai Roadshow for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, presenting Gujarat’s two-decade-long success story to leading industrialists, business leaders, and diplomats. The event drew participation from over 350 industry stalwarts and 35 diplomats, including several Consulate Generals.

Ahead of the main event, CM Patel held one-on-one discussions with 13 prominent industry leaders, strengthening investment prospects for the state.

Highlighting Gujarat’s transformation since the summit’s inception in 2003 by then CM Narendra Modi, Patel noted that the state has become India’s most preferred investment hub and a center for large-scale economic activities. Gujarat’s GSDP has surged from ₹1.42 lakh crore in 2003 to ₹22.61 lakh crore in 2023, recording a robust 15% annual growth rate—well above the national average. Patel emphasized Gujarat’s strategic advantages, with 38% of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor passing through the state and the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project underway. He outlined the next wave of growth, driven by mega projects such as GIFT City, DREAM City, the Hybrid Solar and Wind Renewable Energy Park, and Dholera SIR—India’s largest greenfield industrial investment region.

Financial powerhouses like the World Trade Centre, GIFT-NIFTY, and Bank of America have already established their presence in GIFT City. On the diamond front, Surat remains the global hub for polished diamonds, contributing 80% of India’s diamond exports and leading in the emerging lab-grown diamond sector. DREAM City in Surat is poised to further strengthen this leadership. To achieve India’s $5 trillion economy goal, Patel stressed the need for a 14% CAGR by 2027 in key sectors including semiconductors, green hydrogen, electric vehicles, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and technical textiles.

The event was attended by Gujarat’s Finance & Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, MoS Jagdish Vishwakarma, Chief Principal Secretary K. Kailashnathan, and senior officials. Chief Secretary Raj Kumar credited Gujarat’s investor appeal to proactive policies and a business-friendly environment, while Additional Chief Secretary S. J. Haider presented two decades of Vibrant Summit achievements. Industry leaders including Reliance Industries’ Group President Dhanraj Nathwani, Bank of America’s Kaku Nakhate, and Arvind Limited’s Kulin Lalbhai shared their positive experiences with Gujarat’s investment climate. CII President Designate Sanjiv Puri extended a warm welcome to all participants, reaffirming the state’s position as a gateway to India’s future growth.
