Centre Reports Steady Progress on Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway

The construction of the 109 km Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, a key infrastructure link to the upcoming smart city of Dholera, is making significant headway. According to Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, 71 km of the expressway was completed as of June 30, 2024. The project is on track for completion within the 2024–25 financial year.

Built at an estimated cost of ₹4,372 crore, the expressway has already seen ₹3,920 crore spent. Once operational, it will slash travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 40–45 minutes. In related updates, Gadkari shared that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway—passing through Gujarat—is also advancing. Of the total 1,386 km stretch, 1,070 km is complete. The Delhi-Vadodara section is nearly finished, with only 41 km pending, while the Vadodara-Mumbai segment has 214 km built so far. The ₹1 lakh crore mega project has already incurred ₹56,990 crore in expenditure, and is expected to be completed in 2025–26.

These developments mark major progress in India’s push for world-class road connectivity, boosting economic activity and easing travel across key industrial corridors.
