8 Major MoUs Worth Over Rs 1.04 Lakh Crore Signed at Dholera Semiconductor Conference
The Gujarat Semiconnect Conference, held at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, witnessed the signing of eight landmark MoUs in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, collectively valued at over Rs 1.04 lakh crore. These agreements are set to strengthen Gujarat's semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem while generating thousands of high-skilled jobs.
Key Agreements and Investments:
- Jabil India will establish a Silicon Photonics Manufacturing Unit with Rs 1,000 crore investment, creating nearly 1,500 jobs for producing photonics transceivers for AI, telecom, IoT, and smart infrastructure.
- India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and Tata Electronics signed a Rs 91,526 crore Financial Support Agreement for a semiconductor fab in Dholera. Tata also partnered with IIT Gandhinagar for skill development and formed a tripartite agreement with PSMC (Taiwan) and Himax Technologies.
- Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (TSMT) committed over Rs 500 crore for an EMS unit, generating around 1,000 jobs.
- NextGen announced Rs 10,000 crore investment for a compound semiconductor fab and optoelectronics facility, with technical support from Hitachi and Solidlight.
- Additional partnerships include CANS with Alpha and Omega Semiconductor for power electronics production, Micron Technology's initiatives in Sanand, and Keynes Technology's upcoming semiconductor unit with production starting June 2025.
The three-day conference attracted 1,500 delegates and 250 exhibitors, showcasing Gujarat's comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem. Chief Minister Patel highlighted the state's strategic initiatives, including the Semiconductor Policy 2022 and development of Dholera Smart City. The region's infrastructure development encompasses uninterrupted power and water supply, expressway connectivity, and the upcoming Dholera Greenfield Airport, scheduled for July 2025 operations. These developments, along with the Global Capability Centre Policy promoting AI and machine learning advancements, position Gujarat at the forefront of India's semiconductor revolution.
